Vintage Faber-Castell 2mm leads in HB; H and 4H
A.W. Faber-Castell TK 9030 Clutch Drawing Pencil Leads HB Pack of 12. Yes you read that right these green hard plastic packs have 12 leads and not the lesser amount of 10 found in the current packs. These are vintage and where made before the UPC code printed on the front that makes the current packs look awful. They where made and marked Nuremberg, Germany (Stein Bei Nurnberg Germany). And they are all mint and came in an original master box of 12 sets of 12 leads. — Limited Quantities. —
We have just found a small cache of vintage A.W. Faber-Castell 2mm leads in HB; H and 4H
Faber-Castell makes the best package for holding 2mm leads the way it slides forward out the top and uncovers to allow you to take any lead out you want. The pack holds the leads safely and protects them against the world of hard knocks. It is really a superior container to carry your 2mm leads safely and is very easy to use in dispensing your leads. It would even be great to put other brand leads in them to carry around because it is such a great container. The pack is about 5.25 x 1 x 0.25 inches.
For those of you who do not know what HB; H and 4H means maybe this will help. HB is about the same as a normal number #2 graphite pencil. H is about the same as a #4 graphite pencil. 4H is outside the USA pencil grading range. 4H grade graphite pencils are harder, lighter in color and less likely to smudge so are ideal for doing intricate work like outlines and small details as well writing as they produce sharp lines. 4H also normally do not need to be sharpened as often as the softer leads.
Lead grades do not match from brand to brand but they are close. A HB by Venus may differ slightly from a Faber-Castell HB pencil but the grades are a good guide to follow when choosing your next pencil lead.
The 2mm leads we have are older because they are marked A.W. Faber-Castell TK 9030. The current 2mm leads are marked Faber-Castell TK 9400. The original company was A.W. Faber (the founder’s name) and later became Faber-Castell, which it is still called today. And don’t forget you get 12 not 10 leads in each package.
Also we have other vintage 2mm leads by different makers including more from A.W. Faber-Castell. Ask to see the selection of vintage 2mm leads the next time you come by our booth.
